Hariri suspects' release ordered

A UN court has ordered the release of four Lebanese generals held over the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.

They have been held without charge in Lebanon for four years - but were recently transferred to UN custody.

Belgian pre-trial judge Daniel Fransen ruled that there was not enough evidence to hold them.

"The pre-trial judge orders, unless they are held in another case, the release with immediate effect," the judge said.

1. Ok so basically Syria and its Lebanese allies have been cleared.
Or at a minimum, there is no longer a good reason to simply assume, as we have been told since this happened, that Syria did it. That raises the obvious question, if not Syria who?, and the overarching question, who benefited from this event?.

The who benefited part is of course easy. Following up on it, not so much.
