WARSAW, April 29 (Reuters) - The body of a Polish engineer killed by Taliban militants in Pakistan in February was returned to his family in Poland on Wednesday.

The wife and son of Piotr Stanczak met the coffin which was draped in Polish and Pakistani flags at Warsaw airport. He was kidnapped in Pakistan and beheaded after Islamabad ignored a deadline for releasing Taliban prisoners.

"Both Pakistani authorities as well as Poland's foreign ministry will continue to do their utmost to find and punish the perpetrators (of this killing)," Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Kremer said at a short ceremony at the airport.

Poland will release a report next week on the action it took to try to resolve the case. Warsaw has repeatedly denied media speculation that it paid a ransom for the body to be returned. Stanczak worked for a geology company Geofizyka Krakow near the city of Attock, some 65 km (40 miles) from Islamabad. The company put the contract on hold after the kidnapping.
