Twinsburg Chrysler Plant To Close By End Of 2010 (OH)

2:54 pm EDT May 1, 2009

DETROIT -- Documents in Chrysler's bankruptcy case reveal the automaker's plans to close five more of its plants by the end of 2010, including the Twinsburg stamping plant.

Twinburg Mayor Katherine Procop said the news is "very disturbing." She said there has been no communication from Chrysler about the decision to close.

The Twinsburg plant employs 1,200 people. Employees at the plant told NewsChannel5 that they are in "utter shock" over the news.

Chrysler out of Detroit said there is no other alternatives on the table.

The other plants include the Sterling Heights and Conner Avenue assembly plants in Michigan, the St. Louis North assembly plant in Missouri and an engine plant in Kenosha, Wis.

The plants are among eight that would be left out of a deal for Italy's Fiat to buy the U.S. carmaker's most valuable assets in bankruptcy. Instead, the "new Chrysler" would lease the plants then shutter them by December 2010.

1. The whole fucking country is going down the shitter.
I thought that bailing out the automobile companies was supposed to save jobs. Guess I misunderstood.

We're suppose to lose 3 plants according to our local news. I just wonder when the job losses will end.
