Progressive Lays Off Workers (300/Ohio)

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Close to 300 people were laid off at Progressive on Wednesday.

Officials said 280 claims representatives were laid off. Nine representatives are in northeast Ohio. The others are across the country.

No other information is known at this time.

Ohio started going under big time long before the recession became full blown. I imagine a lot of Ohioans have just quit looking for work altogether, which means they won't be in the "official" unemployment count.

Will the nice lady with the false eyelashes in all the Progressive insurance commercials have to go?

What about all those people helping to maintain that pristine white shopping environment? That can't be cheap.

The "Dave aisle" just might have to go as well.
