Canadian Auto Workers union is not close to deal with GM Canada ahead of midnight deadline

The head of the Canadian Auto Workers says the union is not close to reaching a new labor agreement with General Motors Canada.

Ken Lewenza gave the brief update with just hours to go before a deadline of midnight Friday.
The deadline was set by the federal and Ontario governments after they said an agreement reached between the two sides in early March did not do enough to cut GM's labor costs.

If cooperation is not achieved, then all 10,000 Canadian workers could be out of a job.

I believe in strong unions and think that almost everyone should be a member. However, if an employer is about to file bankruptcy, then one should cooperate.
