Congress [Party] Hails India Poll Victory
Source: BBC News

The leaders of India's Congress party have thanked the people for returning them to power with a "massive mandate".

Congress President Sonia Gandhi said they had made the "right choice" and PM Manmohan Singh vowed the party would "rise to the occasion".

Earlier the main opposition BJP and the Third Front conceded they had lost.

State television says Congress's alliance has won or is ahead in 263 seats, compared with the BJP's (154), the Third Front (60) and others (66).

3. They'll still need the left, luckily.
I was hoping that the Third Front would win, and the CPI(M) would do better, but they really screwed themselves by supporting neoliberal economic policies in West Bengal.

4. CPI-M looks after China's interest ahead of Indias
are you kidding? CPI-M is a cancer that needs to be destroyed. I am glad they were thumped by the voters.

5. Yipee .. they are gone ..
I am so happy that the commies lost in their strongholds. They are in no position to threaten or derail India's plan for liberalization ...

neoliberal? seriously? the state of West Bengal is a study of how communist policies can cripple and render a state useless. Bengal had it all - intellectual capital, natural resources, fertile agricultural land and the communists have all but destroyed this state in the 32 years in power.

won't regret seeing them lose some more ..
