Many U.S. expats prefer "Anybody But Bush"
Reuters story here.

<snip>
BERLIN (Reuters) - Often caught in the firing line when foreigners vent their anger at George W. Bush, many American expatriates are flocking to Democratic primaries abroad and pinning hopes on a John Kerry election victory in November.

U.S. expatriate voters number more than six million worldwide, but they have long been a nebulous and somewhat neglected bloc whose absentee ballots end up scattered, with limited impact, across 50 states.

But three years of Bush's foreign policies have rattled their adopted countries and shaken into action many expatriates weary of hostile questions on Iraq, the environment and other issues.

Some are brimming with enthusiasm for Kerry, a Massachusetts Senator and the Democratic front-runner ahead of this week's "Super Tuesday" primary races in several states. Others say any candidate would be better than Bush.

4. Quite understand that
Let's hope they actually vote. Bush has made their lives less pleasant and more dangerous.

5. As an ex-pat in Japan
I can say that most of the Americans I've met here do not want Bu$h. And no one I've met from an English-speaking country besides the US has any respect for Bu$h.

6. Interesting. Did Reuters just wake up?
Democrats Abroad don't hold primaries, but hold caucuses. And they ended almost a month ago (Feb. 6-9). The Regional and International Caucuses won't be held for another three weeks. Weird timing for this piece.

8. Just tonight
at work a group of American ex-pats were talking politics. One says he is now trying to get everyone he can to vote for Sharpton. The others are ALL chomping at the bit to get rid of *. I don't know a single long-term ex-pat here who is happy with *. There were comments such as, "I never really gave a damn before, but I've already got my absentee ballot" and, "I gotta vote this time. I'm sick of bitching". It's been amazing.

Of course, the tourists and short-termers are usually * fans, even fervently so. I guess the short bursts of anti-Americanism cause a knee-jerk reaction. The ones who've been away longer and have more frequent and meaningful exchanges with non-Americans are definitely * haters.

9. There is only one Freeper Business Professor at my
University who will be voting for Shrub.

Everyone else is pro-ABB.

I would have to say MOST were Dean supporters before he dropped out.
