Dog saves owner from burning Orlando duplex

A service dog smelled a fire overnight and alerted his hearing-impaired owner of the danger.

The man then saved his sleeping neighbor from the burning Orlando duplex. Darrin Weeks, of 34 N. Primrose Drive, said his dog Roscoe jumped on the bed to wake him after a fire broke out in the building.

Weeks ran next door, awoke his neighbor and pulled him out of the fire. Reports show the neighbor, whose name was not released, ran back inside the house to remove his belongings, but eventually stayed outside.

Weeks was not injured in the blaze. He said he owed his life to his dog. "I'm going to give him a steak tomorrow," Weeks said.
