npr "tell the world it is a coup"
npr newbreak here quotes waters and rangle conversations with aristede.
quoting him as saying- tell the world it is a coup. he was taken away, against his will, 20 us troops with automatic weapons. white house says- ridiculous.
the cat is out of the bag folks.

6. Now THAT's comedy. They lie every day and get caught.
There is no consequence to lying. No threat from Congress, no rebuttal from the media, no outrage by the voters. Welcome to the GW Amerikkka.

17. Yup
they make a big splash with the lie. 90% only hear the lie and assume its true. The real truth drips out over subsequent days/weeks/months and little is done by anyone about it.

7. If only!!
Who's going to prove it was a coup. Chimp will come out with some blah-blah about how it's god's will that Aristede left, and the Stepford people will believe him and it'll go down the memory hole just like everything else.

I'm not in a very good mood today, but my take is that the bushbot a$$holes will NEVER wake up!!

14. Most Americans care nothing about Haiti
It's a Black nation, the poorest of the poor. Most people will look at what we've done and say, "Heck, we did 'em a favor!" The only way this will get any traction is if the news media pounce on it for what it is, and do y'all think they'll do that?

5. Cui Bono?
This seems stupid even by Team Bush standards -- and we all know how high they've set the bar for stupidity.

What does it get them? They execute a high-risk coup in a small, poor, unstable country -- for what? Shits-n-giggles?

I must be missing something here. It makes no sense at all. And yet, it seems to be happening.

8. My own theory is that it was supposed to be an exhibition of competence.
How could you not succeed in a coup in Haiti? Sort of an anodyne
for the mess in Iraq. Instead they are caught with their pants down.
CARICOM is having an emergency meeting tomorrow to figure out how
to do something about it, it is going to be all over the News world wide.
What is amazing is how quickly it is coming apart. I'm still waiting to
see what, if anything, the Haitian people do about it.

18. Dupe, and LBN Rules... locking
Please keep all discussion of the "Aristide Kidnapped?" story consolidated into the original LBN thread, which can be found here:

Dem Now - Aristide confirms to Maxine Waters that he was kidnapped

It would be very helpful for consolidation if you could post any and all links within the original thread.

Also, LBN Rules require at least a link to the story, and the subject line should include the published title of any linked-to articles.

Thanks!
