Bush Defends Campaign Focus on Sept. 11 Attacks

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) on Saturday brushed aside calls he pull political ads that use images of the devastated World Trade Center to show him as a strong leader in troubled times.

Despite pressure from families who lost relatives in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Bush said he "will continue to speak about the effects of 9/11 on our country and my presidency." snip

One television spot shows the ruins of the World Trade Center behind an American flag while another shows firefighters removing the flag-draped remains of a victim.


The commercials have angered many victims' relatives, outraged at what they say is an attempt to politicize one of the darkest days in the nation's history. The Bush administration has defended the ads as relevant and "tasteful."

1. Brushed aside????

It's so easy for him to do this. Life for Bush is black and white...right or wrong, etc. No shadows...no compromise....no rethinking!

3. Talking about the attack is one thing.....

But claiming that his actions were victorious and heroic is totally bogus. He first did not react, then he hid, then when it was all over and there was no danger, Mr Top Gun finally showed himself. An d Cheney also crawled out of his hidey hole.

Limbaugh and Hannity and their cohorts deride the widows for objecting to Bush's campaign commercial saying the DNC coached them on what to say. But I defy those fatheads to prove that what the women said did not come from deep within them. I defy the ditto head and lemming leaders to prove those women and the firefighters who also complained, were not being sincere.
I listened to Limbaugh Friday and was nauseated by his attacks on those women. Just how low and disgusting can a man get? I am starting to find out that the proper name for them is "roadkill"

6. It still hurts

to see that footage. I am so upset right now that I can't think of anything suitable to say...except that I believe that Bush knew, and I believe he wimped out. He didn't show up in New York until a week later. I don't like Rudy Giuliani, but he was the "Take Charge" guy during and after the attacks. He was taking care of business while lily-livered george was jooking around the country in Air-Force One.

He did not sit in a classroom for 1/2 hr. while we were under attack....how can the Republicans call such inaction "leadership"???
