10-foot Great White Shark bitten nearly in half by 20-foot 'monster shark' near Australian beach
Source: NY Daily News

Swimmers were warned that a "monster shark" was prowling off a popular Australian beach, one that nearly bit a 10-foot great white shark in half last week, London's Daily Mail reported.

Based on the bite marks, experts say the larger shark must be twice its victim's size.

The smaller - relatively speaking - great white was hooked on a baited drum line when it was attacked, and was still alive when it was hauled onto a boat off north Stradbroke Island in Queensland.

The fatally wounded shark was found just a few miles away from the island's popular beaches, a haven for surfers and bathers.

9. He had been caught but not hauled in yet. This is a problem, why?
He's not a 6 oz cutthroat trout. He's gonna take a while to get ahold of.

13. Why were they catching Great White sharks?
Was there an attack in the area or was this just for sport?

14. If you are asking about the "baited drum line"...
they are used off Australian surf beaches and swimming spots (along with shark nets) to protect beach-goers, as the sharks are attracted to the bait on the hook rather than the bait on the surfboard.

Seems the 10 footer got caught on the drum line hook and a bigger great white has come along and taken a few chunks out of him.

No pun intended, but the picture does look a bit fishy to me.

3. Ouch!That left a mark.
Compare the mouth of the shark pictured with the bite marks.

The article did get one thing wrong. The nearby beach is no longer a popular surf spot.

30. I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do.
They essentially trapped this shark so it couldn't escape and was eaten alive by another shark. Great work, guys.

Reminds me of "bear baiting," when people would take a bear, gouge out its eyes, and sick dogs on it, to see if it could defend itself without its vision.

Sick shits, these humans.

18. Why should people be scared?
One--This "monster shark" is obviously full

Two--The "monster shark" knows where the food is...on the drum line

Three--People will know when the "monster shark" is coming when they hear daa-dum....daa-dum...dumdum..dumdum..dumdum..dumdum.........

What a freaking surprise. In other breaking news, the local mouse expert will be telling people they are also cannibals.
