Newt Gingrich praises Obama on Afghanistan

CINCINNATI—Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is praising President Barack Obama for political courage on Afghanistan.

The Georgia Republican says Obama is doing what he thinks is right for the country by increasing the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. But Gingrich predicts that Obama will have trouble pulling out troops in 2011, and that there will still be U.S. troops both in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2012.

Gingrich says Obama made a difficult decision that took considerable courage because it will split his supporters.

Gingrich spoke to reporters Wednesday night in Cincinnati, where he was leading a town hall meeting on job creation on the eve of the president's job forum in Washington. Hundreds turned out at a downtown hotel to hear Gingrich promote cutting taxes and reducing government spending.

4. I suspect those folks are playing politics...
Obama is either a sell-out or has genuine information to side with staying over there. And I believe him. Not them.

pushing for Duncan/Obama's latest attempt to ruin public education in the United States, i.e., the "Race to the Top."

That tells me all I need to know.

13. Yep... Obama is essentially a Bush 3rd term. I'm sure they're quite ecstatic.
On the upside, we're almost 9 years into the 12 year nightmare of Bush/Cheney/Obama and there are only 3 more to go. We'll have a lot of rebuilding to do after twelve years of the corporatist, war-mongering, anti-civil-liberties Republicrats we will have endured for over a decade. History will look upon it as the lost decade.

3. Did Newt get away from his busy schedule of cheating on his nth wife to say that?
(I'm not against Obama, but Newt is a real sickie. "The party of family values" he likes to push yet he can't even keep his own 2mm pecker in his pants.)

7. Add to the list the VP and any member of Congress that does not

9. the irony is that war supporters have been accusing us in the opposition...
...of repeating right wing talking points. The right wing talking points actually support Obama's war.
