Sen. Dodd to Move Ahead On Financial Reform Without GOP
Source: CNBC

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) said he would unveil a revised package of financial regulatory reforms on Monday without the Republicans and will begin mark up on the bill March 22.

Dodd has been negotiating with GOP committee member Bob Corker on a bipartisan bill for more than a month, but in a statement Thursday he signaled that key differences over a couple of measures have prompted him to move ahead with his own bill.

“Over the last few months, Banking Committee members have worked together to try and produce a consensus package. Together we have made significant progress and resolved a many of the items, but a few outstanding issues remain," Dodd said in a statement. “It has always been my goal to produce a consensus package. And we have reached a point where bringing the bill to the full committee is the best course of action to achieve that end."

18. It is next to NYC? I like living in CT as far as social policies go.

We legalized gay marriage. The Republicans here are so moderate they wouldn't be elected in other more conservative states as Republicans. There is a great history, good colleges, tons of museums, it is next to the ocean (love the aquariums and taking my kids to the beach).
Now the bad part: it is the commuting heaven for the bigwigs on Wall St. AND it is a defense contractor's dream. Oh, and Hartford is the insurance capitol of the US.
Those things have helped keep the standard of living higher but the price is compromised politics. Our last gov. went to jail and there are tons of mayors who have too.

8. Yeah, I like what Barney Frank said about televising the reconciliation meeting if
the Senate financial reform bill is too weak. Let those banker-friendly (R)s and (D)s stand up and announce themselves for all the world to see.

Rachel's commentary about Dodd was scathing. It seems to have worked!

14. I cheer on Sen. Dodd for deciding to move forward without the GOP.
It's amazing what can get done if one is not running for re-election. Further evidence that we need campaign finance reform.

19. Corker was on the Tee-Vee gloating about how the Democrats will bend to his will.
Senator Dodd needs to move ahead. I'm sick and tired of Dems caving and giving in, only to discover that they get absolutely NO Repuke votes whatsoever. We're then left with a weakened, watered-down bill as a result. When will the Dems ever learn?

Do the right thing, Dodd.
