1. Uhhh...lots of questions.
So...first off, we have accusations that could end a career.

Then...he had a "concealed" weapon...but how did they find it? And where was
he (terminal, concourse, employee only areas) when it was found on him?

Is he one of the pilots (just curious) that is certified to carry a weapon on board
the aircraft, WHILE at work ONLY (don't be confused...he cannot carry a weapon
while traveling on his own personal time, on board)?

I don't always defend pilots...but the accusation is SO serious, that the
charges need to be clear and clarified, quickly.

...lots of questions.

2. What happened to arming pilots to prevent hijackings?
I thought that had gone through.

5. Still in effect....
As far as I know...the armed pilot thing is still in effect.

There are however, very, VERY rigid regulations and not every pilot is armed. Keep
in mind, it is only in the event that the cockpit was under serious threat of
being taken over...pilots are NOT permitted to take the arms and leave the
cockpit (under ANY circumstances, irregardless of what is going on in the cabin. Their
job is to fly the aircraft...be in control of the aircraft...and put it down, ASAP if needed.)

..but then again, there was some gun discharge event within the last couple of
years in a cockpit (I think..if I remember reading that)...Seems
that there was some deep shit over that stupidity.

4. Update: Looks like no big deal
ATLANTA -- A Delta Airlines pilot was arrested on Saturday for carrying a concealed weapon to the airport.

Matthew Lamar McDaniel was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport for carrying a concealed weapon.

McDaniel had a loaded Taurus .38 special in his bag with five rounds.

McDaniel said he forgot the gun was in his bag, but he does have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

6. Even little old ladies have done the same thing.
Probably not a big deal, overall, but it WILL have consequences for him. Also, as a concealed carry permit holder, and CCW advocate, I do wonder a bit about people who 'forget' they are armed... But I could see it happening I guess.
