Police: Stolen guns were to be used to overthrow the government
Edited on Sun Aug-01-10 08:26 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: Carlisle Sentinel

Raymond Franklin Peake III told investigators that "he would kill to defend his country and he was stealing weapons to defend his country," court documents read.

The Hampden Township man is in Cumberland County Prison without bail after being charged with homicide Saturday. Police said one of the weapons Peake, 64, stole resulted in the July 21 shooting death of lawyer Todd Getgen, 42, of Enola.

-----

Both Peake and Tuso are correction officers at State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, a spokesperson confirmed Saturday.

-----

Peake told police he had been stealing guns for an organization that is collecting firearms to overthrow the federal government, court documents say. Peake also told police that he and Tuso are members of the organization, but refused to give its name.

Peake apparently shot the lawyer to death on a PA State Gamelands shooting range for his custom .308 AR-15 with silencer. Tuso is his accomplice who hid the guns for him.

1. As much as I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment
it is laughable to see some of these extremists (mostly fat white men with boobs) thinking that they could overthrow the US government with their motley collection of pistols, rifles and handguns.

2. It might be laughable in a sense, but I find it hard to laugh

The real would-be terrorists are the teabagger Republicans.

Knew something was really wrong when they considered the peace symbol offensive. These people are freaking nuts and as you can see murderous.

3. What the hell?
Stealing guns to "overthrow the Government"? This is what happens when you spew hate all day on the radio and Fox, to ignoramuses like these two. Remember, they are guards at a "State Correctional", Facility. Does anybody else think that, that States, might want to review their Physiological screening requirements?

10. So, Psychological results can change (And do for Prison Guards)
Edited on Sun Aug-01-10 10:44 PM by happyslug
Many years ago I asked a Psychologist about the factoid I had heard that Prisoners and Guards tend to test the same of Psychological tests. He corrected me, that is only after Five years on the Job.

I am sorry, if you want to keep Prison Guards on the Job for more then Five years, you have to accept that unpleasant fact. In simple terms by the time the Guards have enough experience to be truly effective, they should be retired. If you do NOT retire Prison Guards (or transfer them to another assignment unrelated to Prisons) after five years you get people like these two suspects. Even the German SS, transferred guards to its Armed Units before WWII to avoid such problems (after WWII started such transfers ended, and you saw a steady decline in the conditions of the Concentrations camps do to this failure to transfer the Guards, Please Note I am referring to the true Concentration Camps, NOT the Death Camps which only started in 1942 with transfers from the Guards and Officers from the Concentration Camps, at a period where no transfers from the Concentration Camps had occurred since 1939).

this would be all over the national news and the terror alert would be red by now

But they are white guys trying to "defend America" so it is just a harmless nuisance (except for the unfortunate who was killed of course)

17. Wouldn't have to be Arab-speaking, would they?
Just if said hypothetical example referred to Americans, US Citizens, of Middle-Eastern or, say, Afghani or Pakistani or Nigerian or any other 'Moslem Country' genetic ascendancy, even if American--English is their only tongue, this would be the case, would it not?

So what we're observing is a mix of Xtian religious phobia and racism.

Government employees who get angry about that should at least have the decency to quit before attempting armed insurrection.

26. I'm betting - since the article says they would die for their country, and yet they're trying to
overthrow the government (the Obama Administration) that their real problem is perceived socialization of America over things like - health care and the idea that we may leave Iraq, and the idea that the Dems will take their guns away, and the myth that global warming is what's really hurting corporations, etc. The probably really are glenn beck listeners and I bet they've got an autographed copy of Palins biography between them.

28. Anyone who has a problem with "socialization"
should have the decency to opt out of their state pensions by quitting their government jobs. Aren't there private prisons looking for experienced help? It's just remarkable to me that so many of these folks who are opposed to "socialism" also get monthly checks from some government entity.

31. I tipped Salon reporter to this story and he covered it
A Pennsylvania prison guard charged with murdering a man at a shooting range and stealing his semi-automatic rifle told police that he was stockpiling guns as part of a plan to overthrow the federal government, according to a police affidavit reviewed by Salon.

It's a story that has flown under the national radar but may represent the latest anti-government flare-up of the Obama era.

-----

"Peake said he has been stealing guns for the purpose of aiding an organization that Peake refused to name. Peake said the organization is collecting guns for the purpose of overthrowing the federal government. Peake said he and Tuso together are members of this organization. Peake (said) that he would kill to defend his country and he was stealing weapons to defend his country."

Interestingly, the affidavit also says Peake drives a Jeep with a special "combat wounded" license plate and a bronze star sticker in the window, suggesting he is a veteran. It's not clear if he has an attorney.

and they are going to kill innocent people to further their cause then this country is in really bad shape.
