McCain holds up confirmation of new Director of National Intelligence
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) - Sen. John McCain put a "hold" on the confirmation of James Clapper to be the Director of National Intelligence, the Arizona Republican's spokeswoman said Monday.

"Senator McCain requested a specific report that Mr. Clapper has and until that report is provided, Senator McCain will continue to hold his nomination," Brooke Buchanan said.

Senate Democrats hoped to clear Clapper confirmation before the August recess, which begins at the end of the week. Unless Clapper satisfies McCain's request, Clapper will likely have to wait until mid-September when the Senate returns to work.

Buchanan would not provide the subject matter nor other details of the report McCain has requested.

...

If Clapper's confirmation is delayed, there could be a huge vacuum at the top of the intelligence community because Deputy DNI David Gompert, who is currently the acting DNI, is resigning at the end of August.

17. McCain’s Secret Plan to Capture Bin Laden
I remember when McCain bragged about how he knows how to capture Bin Laden back in late 2007. I wonder if he'll let President Obama in on the secret?

2. Well, then, the fellow must have some credibility.
McCain, of course, is complicit in an enormous Republican cover-up with his white-wash of the Abramoff scandal, which has national security repercussions extending who knows how far. (Just what happened to those surveillance tapes showing the 9/11 terrorists on Jack Abramoff's boat? Who are Abramoff's "sniper school" graduates knocking off these days? Why, exactly, did John Ashcroft block all investigations into al Qaeda's funding, and why was Abramoff's firm included in that blocking move? And so on.)

I expect President Obama is going to make a large number of recess appointments this month, so the blocking move is really just another annoyance.

8. John McCain is so not what he portrays himself to be. He is a very unethical and dishonest man
And if you are interested and do your research, you will have to agree with me. He's still jealous as hell that Obama was elected president instead of him. He holds a major grudge and his insides will rot he is so twisted about it. Believe me, even his own co-prisoners of war do NOT want his finger anywhere near the panic button. We'd already be at war with Iran and Korea if he got in and we're already keeping our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan for 4 and 5 tours. Don't listen to anything that man has to say. He's off his rocker.

3. I know Senators have a lot of time off, but it blows me away every time I read shit like "...before
the August recess, which begins at the end of the week...wait until mid-September when the Senate returns to work."

Out of fucking touch, every last one of 'em.

9. Do what ya gotta do, President Obama. These bums will be trying to hold you up every step of the way
Use recess appointments, signing statements, reconciliation, whatever it takes to get things done. The republicans are like drowning rats. They are gasping for air and saying anything they can think of, no matter how untrue, to try to buy some saving votes. I pray the American people can see clearly right through their selfish, greedy, hypocritical carcasses.

16. Quelle surprise...
After seeing McCain's pick for VP, it's obvious that he has problems confirming anything to do with intelligence.
