Palin backing doesn't help in Kansas
Source: AP

Moran wins GOP primary for US Senate in Kan.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Kansas Republicans have chosen Congressman Jerry Moran as their nominee for an open U.S. Senate seat in a bitter primary race where both candidates actively courted GOP conservatives.

Moran overcame a strong challenge from fellow Rep. Todd Tiahrt (TEE'-hart). The key issue for many voters was which longtime politician would be more aggressive in fighting President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats.

Moran promoted endorsements from conservative senators such as tea party favorite Jim DeMint of South Carolina, while Tiahrt had the backing of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Baker University assistant dean Lisa Johnston won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate.

2. Confirms my suspicion
Palin is more of a hop-on-the-bandwagon type than any sort of leader, if someone she endorses wins chances were pretty damn good that person would have won anyway.

4. Isn't this the second candidate that lost with her endorsement?
There was someone else just in the last couple of weeks.

She doesn't bring anything. She's more of a curiosity that people go see but, they don't vote for her.

I bet you a large order of fries that she's going to help kill the Tea Klan.

5. The winner had support from a tea-party backed candidate (DeMint)
I'm pretty sure that even if Palin's candidate doesn't win a primary that the "Tea Party" can still claim success on some level.

6. Right. I'm mostly curious about what her role actually is.
And thanks for the info on DeMint.

3. Tiahrt also had the endorsement of KKKarl Rove.
KKKarl had tried to pull his usual nastiness on Moran.

(snip)

Up against an opponent with backing from Kansas' tea partiers, Moran's campaign won the primary by bolstering his conservative record and carefully courting the party's moderate wing. Tiahrt took the opposite approach, and sought out the state's most socially conservative voters. He scored endorsements from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former Bush administration advisor Karl Rove, Fox News host Sean Hannity, and conservative organizer Phyliss Schlaffly, among others. That list of conservative luminaries, though, couldn't save Tiahrt, who lost the Republican primary Tuesday night by 5 points.

(snip)

Tiahrt, meanwhile, branded Moran a watered-down moderate. In one well-publicized commercial, a former hostage whom terrorists held captive in the Philippines for more than a year endorses Tiahrt while an off-camera voice suggests Moran supported constitutional rights for terrorists. One of Tiahrt’s most punishing jabs at Moran came in late June from surrogate and supporter Karl Rove, who accused Moran of trying to barter a vote for a 2001 fundraiser. (Moran and his staff emphatically denied the claim.)

(end snip)

9. I now think Palin might be even more of a danger than any of us here
might have thought.
Not because she is an idiot or because she is able to rally a small segment of the population but because she and her fellow tea party followers are a distraction.
Think about it, alot of people see her as a joke if we go by the voters in the 2008 election but her being in the news so much distracts people from asking the republican candidates real hard questions.
Like for example "What have you learned from the past mistakes the republicans made when they had the majority in washington and what will you do thats different?" and other similar questions.

10. Any bets on which talking head will be the first to talk about
the fact that Palin's candidates fail?? Maybe we will finally be done with her and her wannabe clones like Sharron Angle.
