Democrats invoke Bush to get support from voters for midterm elections
Source: The Washington Post

As they brace for a difficult fall election, dispirited Democrats hoping to get back some of that 2008 magic are turning to the president for inspiration.

President Bush, that is.

Grainy images of the former president flashed across the screen in a recent ad by Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) is attacking his GOP rival in a Senate race for his "advancement of the Bush agenda."

Even President Obama has begun taking direct shots at his predecessor, something he had been careful to avoid in recent months. "They don't have a single idea that's different from George Bush's ideas -- not one," Obama said during a speeches this week at fundraisers in Atlanta and Chicago.

1. If only *we* had more ideas that were different from Bush's -- on spying, war, bank bailouts, etc.
Sigh...

2. Try Something Else For The Election Cycle - End The Wars
Got a phone call yesterday from the DNC. The caller sounded like a nice young guy, but I had to stop him twice as he went down the list of talking points. Finally he paused for a breath and then asked me for a $200 contribution.

Now I hate George Bush as much as the next person, but the mere mention of his name does not automatically cause me to write a check to the DNC.

After I told the caller that I'm not giving money to Blue Dogs so they can vote with the party of NO on issue after issue. And the Obama administration can close Gitmo, stop military tribunals and get the all of the troops out of Iraq right now and then I'd be glad to write a check for the DNC.

This year I'm supporting local candidates. Pete DeFazio is my rep, and he's a good one. I'll write a check for his campaign.
