Judge orders US to keep protecting 'endangered' wolves
Source: BBC News

A federal judge has ordered the US to put Rocky Mountain grey wolves back on a list of protected endangered species.

Encouraged by the recovery of the once nearly-extinct wolf, the US last year moved to allow wolf hunts in two states while protecting them in a third.

But a judge ruled the law did not permit the US to protect part of a species population while allowing hunting of the rest.

Despite the ruling, Idaho said it would seek federal approval for a wolf hunt.

2. They were so "Encouraged by the recovery..." that they decided to start slaughtering them again.

This is something very close to my heart
When I was a little girl, I read this book called "The Wolf" by Dr. Michael Fox. I bawled my eyes out at the end, and since that day, I have loved wolves. It sickens me that cowards like Sarah Palin hunt the creatures (any creatures, for that matter) from planes. Though I'm sad they're back on the endangered species list, if this will keep them safe, I consider the judgment beneficial.

5. May the gods punish those that hunt us...
All of these people that want to hunt wolves simply wish to finish what humans almost accomplished already - the death of all wolves. I feel that those who say the hunts are needed to protect the wolves from over population, have a deep down hate for the wolves.

Many years ago I had the "privilege" of a dinner table debate with a woman who raises cattle for a living (herds in NM and Arizona). She happened to have a fairly large herd in an area where wolves had been reintroduced. She began the night with wolves are evil, pure evil, and that they attack humans. I finally got her to admit that she was wrong on that. She also argued about how they are bad for cattle ranchers, like herself, and that ranchers ought to shoot them to ensure the safety of their livestock. That argument took longer to win simply because she just would not admit that livestock predation was virtually nil. At the end of the night she had finally admitted that she could not name any instance in her career and of all the other ranchers she knew. I thought I had finally gotten through to her. I know I did for all the rest at the table, but the following week she was at it again while discussing a predation on a neighbor's land. Apparently they found a dead cow the night after a wolf sighting. They immediately went to 'the wolf killed our cow,' mode and went for a hunt. (Not sure of the outcome.) After they had a chance to examine the cow more closely, it was found that it had died from some other means, but this woman was still saying it was good to hunt the wolf since it was only a matter of time before it would have killed one of the cows.

All of these people are nuts or worse, and talking to them makes my head hurt. I can see how they worship Palin. I can no longer wish that the gods have mercy on them. I'm sure my gods won't.
