NATO: 3 US service members killed in Afghanistan
Source: AP

KABUL, Afghanistan – Three US service members were killed in recent attacks in southern Afghanistan, the military coalition said Sunday.

All three died Saturday, bringing the day's death toll for NATO to five.

Two of the Americans died in an insurgent attack, while the third was killed by a bomb blast, NATO said in statements. The military coalition did not provide further details.

The Danish government previously announced two of its soldiers were killed Saturday when their vehicle struck a bomb in southern Helmand province.

1. It used to be that US soldiers much preferred going to Afghanistan than Iraq
BTW, did we win in Iraq? And if so, what did we win?

Also, where is Osama bin Laden?

2. Near as I can tell what we won:
1.) We got rid of Saddam and his sons.
2.) We brought peace between Iraq and Iran.
3.) We gave birth to the new Kurdish state.

I think that's it.

3. Who cares about Saddam. What about Osama?
Greatest bait and switch in US history. I'll give Bush credit for that one.

4. Well, obviously, we did, we cared deeply about getting Saddam.
And just as clearly, we didn't really care a fig about getting bin Laden.

And it is worth asking why that was so, given that bin Laden is the guy we pinned 9/11 on, and that was the pretext for the whole long war boondoggle.

One might start to think that the whole public discussion about the war on terror was some sort of fabrication.

5. Of course it's a fabrication.
"We're a peace-loving people" said Bush, while imbedding the US in two wars with generational commitments. Now what? Just watch helplessly as the US hits the skids, predictably?
