Chavez: US diplomat won't be accepted as envoy
Source: Associated Press

CARACAS, Venezuela — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Sunday went through with his threat to reject the diplomat nominated by President Barack Obama to be the U.S. ambassador to Caracas.

Chavez said he won't accept Larry Palmer as envoy because he recently suggested morale is low in Venezuela's military and raised concerns about Colombian rebels finding refuge in Venezuela.

The socialist leader had said on Thursday that he probably would refuse Palmer's ambassadorship, which has not yet been confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

There was no immediate reaction from Washington on Chavez's announcement.

4. "The socialist leader had said on Thursday that he probably
would refuse Palmer's ambassadorship". Hugo has to do something with his economy dragging his country down a shithole.

5. the Venezuelan economy is a hell of a lot better with Hugo in charge.
Before him, poverty was over 40%; it is now less than 20%.

16. Oil rich country in decline
Declining Gross Domestic Product. GDP fell, according to government figures, by 3.3% in 2009 and shrank 5.8% year-to-year during the first three months of 2010, while all other regional economies were gaining. The International Monetary Fund projects a full year 2010 decline of 2.6%, putting the country with the largest oil reserves outside the Middle East in a worse economic state than Greece. The poverty rate, as mentioned, has declined but the #'s I see backing this up include up to 2007. Anything newer?

19. Being from Panama I have studied and watched politics in
Latin America for 40 years or so. This is something I have learned. The right wing dictatorships that we supported were fucked giving power to the few. The far left gives power to the few. Real socialism, without the CULT of personality is what would help the people. You know I don't like Hugo and I never will but I am for the people. I will keep posting on Hugo/ Latin America because of the people but I won;t get dragged into flame wars about Hugo. Peace R

Hillary whipped out her Larry Palmer, Obama swallowed it, but Hugo came to the rescue and with a machete sliced it off at the nub.

11. Chavez speaks for millions. They don't want another shit-carrying, coupmongering,
rightwing-funding, devious, hostile, anti-democratic, dangerous U.S. ambassador in their midst.

Can hardly blame them.

And I want to stress the fact that Chavez speaks for millions, has been elected repeatedly, by big margins, in honest, transparent, internationally monitored elections, and was rescued by these very people--the citizens and voters of Venezuela--when the U.S.-backed rightwing coup came down, in 2002. He really does speak for the majority in Venezuela. This fact is deliberately lost sigh of, when Chavez says something that our corporate rulers and war profiteers and rightwingers don't like. They focus on their bogeyman Chavez and ignore the people who put the real Chavez in office and kept him there, despite every effort of our corporate rulers and war profiteers, in collusion with the rich elite in Venezuela, to overturn this democratic mandate, and to install a U.S. puppet government in Venezuela.

VENEZUELANS don't want another meddling, bribing, conspiratorial, anti-government U.S. operative in Venezuela. THEY have many good reasons for supporting the Chavez government. THEY like him. THEY empowered him. THEY approve of his policies. And, by God, they have a recall provision in THEIR constitution, to get rid of him if they decide to, on top of regularly scheduled elections. That was one of the U.S. ploys--the U.S. funded/instigated recall election of 2004. Chavez won it, hands down. The Venezuelan people have spoken. And it is time for us to RECOGNIZE this psyops/disinformation technique of creating a phantasmic Chavez with which to beat up on the VENEZUELAN PEOPLE.
