Poll shows CEOs are less optimistic
Source: Bloomberg

WASHINGTON — Confidence among chief executives fell this quarter for the first time in a year as their outlook on sales, employment, and the economy weakened, a private survey showed.

The Young Presidents’ Organization’s gauge fell to 57.5 in July from 61 in April, the Dallas-based group said. A reading higher than 50 shows more CEOs have a positive outlook than a negative one.

Sixty-two percent of the CEOs surveyed said they plan to hold employment steady in the coming year, while fewer expect to enlarge staffs. Companies hired fewer workers than forecast in July, a Labor Department report said last week.

“Employment growth in the United States is likely to remain in neutral for the foreseeable future,’’ said David Maney, spokesman for the survey and chairman of Headwaters MB, an investment bank in Denver

Really? You are the ones that caused all of the jobs to be loss and started this "race to the bottom" that we are experiencing.

1. We need to stop using their resources. We need to generate our own. They are threatening to shut
whole thing down if the left gets its way at all.

Lets open our own banks and lend to small businesses and pull
out of here.

2. I think that is exactly why the Refuckheads are blocking small buisiness loans
They know we're getting pissed at their filthy rich friends. There has to be a tipping point.

3. We need to lend to small businesses and we need a new WPA. We needed
them both 6 months ago and will be lucky to have them 6 months from now.

4. Thanks, gkhouston.
We need to develop national broadband and wireless and take those things out of the hands of big business. Can you imagine how backward we would be as a country if we had left the building of our interstate highway system up to private companies? The thought of it is frightening. Yet by leaving broadband and wireless in the hands of companies like Verizon and Google and AT&T, etc., we are doing the equivalent with wireless and broadband.

At the very least, we need really strong government regulation of the broadband and wireless so that access to those means of communication is just as free to everyone as is access to the highways.

6. Yes, and we also need to shore up and re-build a fair bit of what was built during the 30's.
There's a lot of work that could be done, and a lot of unemployed. Why the Democratic Party hasn't been making a case for rebuilding our economy while rebuilding our country is a mystery to me. Granted, it's not a sexy idea, but folks worried about their jobs don't want sexy, they want a secure paycheck. It's not just the unemployed who are worried about unemployment anymore. Very few people I know feel secure in their jobs.

7. Are they taking pay cuts?
How many jobs could we save if CEOs were paid just half what they're walking away with now?
