Kelliher concedes, endorses Dayton
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 11:27 AM by Wickerman
Source: Star Tribune

Ending hours of uncertainty, Margaret Anderson Kelliher conceded the DFL governor's primary election to Mark Dayton late Wednesday morning.

She said in a statement that she had "offered him my full support ... Today we will come together as DFLers. We will unite behind Mark Dayton."

Twenty-four years since a DFLer was elected as Minnesota's governor, party activists had struggled this morning to unify as the general election campaign began.

A DFL unity rally that had been schedule for 11 a.m. never happened, but soon after 11, Kelliher issued her endorsement of Dayton.

Finally. Now we can move on to reclaiming the state from the no new taxes creeps like Pawlenty that have taken quality of life of Minnesotans from top 5 to middle of the pack. Oh, and increased regressive user fees.

1. Who needs taxes? They're just going to waste it on maintaining bridges and stuff.

2. I think Dayton is a very weak candidate and cannot win.
I think people will be put off by his depression, plus he's missing the likeability factor.

I wish it wasn't so, but that's how I see it unfolding.

How can anyone make that statement after looking at the results has to be out of their mind.

Dayton got more votes than all the GOP and Independent candidates combined.

And the number of voters who went to the polls was the highest in a decade.

If the primary results are any indication, Dayton will win easily.

9. You could give me the info without insults. I guess that's what a lot of people do on boards these
days.

Far be it to express opinions and ideas without being slammed.

3. I wish Kelliher had gotten the nod. Dayton seems to wishy washy
he has ran for office so many times and lost the bids. But I sure hope that he wins this one. Running against Emmer he should have an easy time. Any body that votes for that nut is as crazy as he is. But then look in District 6...and Bachmann her of the crazy eyes.

4. He won the last race he ran
U.S. Senate.

I see him as a man of integrity. He doesn't play a lot of the political games that others have and yeah, that makes him look a little funny.

7. I think you're right about the integrity and games. I don't see him as a
strong candidate. I've been wrong before though! (many times...)
