Dallas, TX outlaws salvia and K2-style herbal cannabinoids
Source: Dallas City Council meeting

Just approved this morning by a 13-1 vote - an ordinance amending Chapter 31 of the Dallas City Code to prohibit the use, possession, or sale of salvia divinorum and synthetic cannabinoids (K2 Summit, Spice, etc.) as well as any paraphernalia used or intended to be used to introduce such substances into the human body.

Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Carraway has taken a leading role in promoting this legislation, and defended it passionately during a heated exchange with an attorney from NORML during today's City Council meeting.

As of August 15 of this year, possession of salvia or herbal cannabinoids within Dallas city limits will be punishable with a fine not to exceed $2,000.

1. I object tothe phrase "herbal cannabinoids" being used to describe products like K2 and spice.
Those products are synthetic cannabinoids applied to a non-cannabinoid herbal base.

13. salvia is also very very common
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 03:03 PM by pitohui
i hope it is easy to distinguish this salvia from some of the many, many, MANY other varieties and species that are common landscaping plants well-established in our homes and gardens

otherwise this is just bullshit waiting to happen because probably every home owner has some variety of salvia somewhere on her property and it would strictly be a matter of harassing unpopular folks because you're not gonna go after EVERYBODY

i have several kinds of salvia, they have been promoted for years as natural hummingbird and butterfly plants

17. It is nothing like marijuana.

Have you ever tried it? I have. It was the most profound experience I have ever had. It made me realize that the things we consider "reality" are just an expenditure of energy to quell anxiety.

I felt deceived, tricked, lied to.

It was not an enjoyable experience, nor is it one I am likely to try again, but I am opposed to anyone who would prevent me from experiencing it.

Edit: typo.

11. Good thing I now live in Garland.
I actually have been contemplating trying some of this incense out, but it's kinda expensive. Besides, I've heard good and bad about it, and haven't really researched it yet.
