Rep. Grayson wants Gibbs fired, calls him 'Bozo the Spokesman'
By Jordan Fabian - 08/11/10 04:46 PM ET

Rep. Alan Grayson (Fla.) Wednesday became the second congressional Democrat to call for White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs' ouster, using colorful moniker to describe him.

Gibbs raised the ire of liberals Tuesday when he told The Hill that some left-wing critics of the Obama administration "ought to be drug tested." Grayson, who is known for his boisterous comments, called Gibbs "Bozo the Spokesman."

"I don't think he should resign, I think he should be fired. He's done a miserable job," Grayson said on MSNBC. "People I know refer to him as 'Bozo the Spokesman.'"

On Tuesday, Grayson's colleague on the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) said that Gibbs' resignation would be "fair" considering the "inflammatory" nature of his comments.

He was much nicer than Gibbs, a gentleman - better looking too.

34. And calling crazy those who thought a Dem Pres. would pass legislation for the left - not for the RW
Olberman said it right: Obama comes into every fight starting at center-right. Like healthcare, he removed single payer before the bill was drafted, instead of using it as a bargaining chip to get the public option that we should have ended up with. Remember that the house passed their bill with a public option in it. The Senate dropped it. Why?

Just one of many examples.

8. Good, this is what Congressional Democrats need to do if they
want to win in November. Grayson is smart, Pelosi et al should request an apology from Gibbs and/or a resignation. And if that is not forthcoming, then Congress will have no choice but to distance themselves from the WH in order not to be affected by this constant drumbeat of insults against the people they are going to be asking to vote for them.

Grayson will now have to squeeze under the already over-crowded bus or wait to be thrown there.

10. Sigh. I'm not impressed with Gibbs, even though he generally speaks the truth.
He's just not eloquent enough. There are subtle ways of taking jabs. Suggesting drug tests sounds like something the rethugs would do.

Except maybe Dana Perino. She couldn't remember it.

14. But no outrage for Obama?
I seem to remember him throwing the left under the bus on Fox news to get his health care reform bill passed. I'm thinking this is how the current administration feels about the professional left.

16. It would be good if all the Dems spoke like Grayson!
Trouble is, the vast majority of them are entangled in a web of ownerships that keep them mute when they might otherwise show similar outrage as Grayson and Wiener do!

If he wants him gone he could go through the appropriate channels to have him removed, but to call him Bozo on tv....

26. and in so doing, grayson only is establishing his lack of clout
Grayson's demand that Gibbs be fired will be ignored and that doesn't exactly help establish Grayson's position as a person with any real power. He can be something great if he actually learns how to play the political game.

35. Grayson is the man
And he's right 99% of the time. He's right on Gibbs, fire the sob.

Obama had better remember who brought him to the White House. It damn sure wasn't the right wing he seems to want to be chummy with all the time.
