Chemical leak sickens dozens at Las Vegas pool

(CNN) -- A chemical leak in the pool area of the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, sickened as many as 100 people Friday, sending 12 of them to local hospitals, according to a spokeswoman for Clark County.

It was not immediately clear what kind of chemical was responsible for the fumes, which caused some of the hotel's guests to have difficulty breathing, said Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling.

About 200 people were evacuated from the area, Welling said.

1. The hotel should just offer to settle for...

$1 million per victim. But stipulate they get to pay in "house money". They'd have their settlement back in no time, and avoid all those huge legal fees. BTW, a chemical at a pool that causes difficulty breathing, what ever could that have been?

3. Isn't the muriatic acid...

that they use to adjust the pH in pools hydrochloric acid? Couldn't you get chlorine gas from that if it spilled?
