Fox News Sues Over Carnahan Commerical, Says It Implies Network Endorsed Democrat
Source: TPMMuckraker

Fox News wants to make this much perfectly clear to their viewers: their network didn't endorse a Democrat.

The network and anchor Christopher Wallace have sued the Robin Carnahan, the Democratic candidate for Senate in Missouri, in federal court, alleging the politician used footage of Wallace's interview of Rep. Roy Blunt (R) in a campaign ad which made it look as though the network was endorsing her.

The lawsuit, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, was filed in court in the Western District of Missouri late Wednesday.

Lawyers from the law firm of Lathrop & Gage LLP argued that Robin Carnahan misused footage of Wallace's Jan. 15, 2006 interview of Blunt, and deems Carnahan's video a "smear ad."

Although the network's parent company News Corp. gave $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association earlier this year (one of the largest single donations to any American political party this cycle), it wants viewers to know its not getting involved in the Senate race.

"FNC is a news organization that has not endorsed a candidate in the 2010 Missouri senatorial race. The value of its news reporting is based in part upon the public's faith in the accuracy and integrity of those reports," the suit says. "The Carnahan Ad is designed to make it appear as if Wallace - a trusted journalist - is instead speaking as a campaign operative."

2. Oh the irony! Foxnews accusing someone else of editing footage .
inwhich to give a false impression from the video. :) That happens just about every day on Fox.

3. Faux always takes Obama speeches out of context so he appears to be saying something that isn't
actually what he said at all.

4. You mean Robin Carnahan
Made it look like Faux Noise supported her over Blunt. Imagine fooling Faux viewers into believing something that isn't real. How can someone do such a thing?

5. Why didn't they just get footage of her and put R under name?
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 12:35 PM by valerief
That's usually how it's done. If a Dem looks good, they put up an R graphic. More often, if a Rethug looks bad, they put up a D graphic.
