U.S. to apologize for STD experiments in Guatemala
Source: MSNBC

Government researchers infected patients with syphilis, gonorrhea without their consent in the 1940s.

U.S. government medical researchers intentionally infected hundreds of people in Guatemala, including institutionalized mental patients, with gonorrhea and syphilis without their knowledge or permission more than 60 years ago.

Many of those infected were encouraged to pass the infection onto others as part of the study.

Sick bastards.

And this kind of depravity continues today. The experiments being conducted today on humans and animals would delight the worst Nazi doctors.

"As subjects, they chose the usual quartet of the available and
contained: prisoners in a national penitentiary, inmates in Guatemala’s only
mental hospital, children in the national orphanage, and soldiers in a barracks in
the capital.

With the cooperation of the Guatemalan government, the researchers
turned to 438 children between the ages of 6 and 16 in the National Orphanage to
study the blood tests, not to give the children syphilis.35"

29. And we (especially the teabagger types) are brainwashed into thinking the US doesn't do this stuff.
I'll bet if the truth would ever come out, the U.S., through the CIA and other covert government departments, engaged in experiments and activities on humans that would have made the Nazi leadership cringe.

I think all three have made an issue about the US apologizing for our actions in the past.

Let's see how serious they really are about the whole "honor and integrity" thing.

34. Not just them...
Most of the repugs see apologizing as a bad thing. I've been subjected to Johnny Isackson's and Nathan Deal's campaign ads from Georgia, and they whineabout President Obama, Roy Barnes and the Democrats apologizing "for everything", as if apologizing and admitting mistakes is some sort of character flaw. And, their minions slurp it all up. What disgusting, warped people they are.

With similar syphllis experiments among American blacks, the sterilization of Puerto Rican and Native American women without their consent from the 20's through 70's-- how does the world stand us?

12. Have you met our nuclear arsenal?
Everybody wants to be your friend when you have nukes and shown that you're not afraid to use them.

On the other hand, I guess we can look forward to the 2060s, when some future administration will be doing mea culpas for our depradations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Because we sure as shitfire aren't going to see any serious inquiry into our crimes against humanity while they're still going on.

14. Just as some of us are hearing about Argentina, Chile,
Brazil, Bolivia, etc., etc. for the first time all these decades later.

Even when these wildly, shockingly late apologies, admissions are made, the fascist idiots among us get fit to be tied over the very idea anyone would dream of apologizing for previous atrocities.

Unbelievable.

16. True. Those who think no low is too low when America does it
get angry over an apology because, for them, American can do no wrong and crimes aren't crimes when America commits them.

21. Not to mention MKUltra
and various radiation exposure studies (e.g. exposing our own troops to radiation from nuclear tests), and on and on.

And we call black activists paranoid with their AIDS theories. The theories may or may not be wrong, but they are kind of reasonable given our history.

"Cameron first conducted his LSD experiments at the Weyburn Mental Hospital in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, which gave rise to the MK-ULTRA program."

The horror stories we've heard coming from this institution (now torn down) are the stuff of nightmares ... we drove by it all the time and it never failed to give me the creeps. If you wanted to scare a child living nearby up until a few years ago, threaten them you were going to send them to this place.

Nuremberg Tribunal Member

Dr. Ewen Cameron was a member of the Nuremberg tribunal (1945). He examined and diagnosed Rudolf Hess, Hitler's devoted "deputy Fuhrer" responsible for Nazi party matters, saying that he was insane, thus helping to save Hess' life. In 1961, Cameron became president of the World Psychiatric Association, which was riddled with Nazi psychiatrists and apologists. Cameron's mind control experiments violated the Nuremberg Code for medical ethics.

25. Some years later,
a bunch of shrinks was administering acid & doing naked encounter groups & whatnot with the criminally insane population of Oak Ridge Secure Treatment Facility at Penetanguishen, Ont. The interesting thing is, the sex offenders in that population went on to have high reoffense rates after release--much higher than "untreated" offenders--and those high reoffense rates are a big part of why everyont thinks all sex offenders reoffend. (Actual rearrest rates are in the 5-8% range within 10 years of release in the US.)

I am adding Israel because of what is coming out right now about the flotilla attack.

What is in the genesis of people who do this? Are they NOT children of GOD for those who go the biblical way? Do they come from outer space? Why are they so different? Were they one on their own concocted drugs?

As part of experiments. Experiments are conducted among minorities and gays, or other groups that the elite consider undesirable. That fits the history of HIV.

I'm sure all those people feel much better about the US now.

How can we as a country, continue to think we are so much better than anyone else? How can we question why so many others hate us? I mean really people, it's not a big stretch here.

41. The U.S. did this here in The USA too.
There was a movie made about what happened.

Miss Evers' Boys (TV 1997)
The true story of the US Government's 1932 Tuskeegee Syphilis Experiments, in which a group of black test subjects were allowed to die, despite a cure having been developed.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119679/

Storyline

In 1932 Macon County, Alabama, the federal government launched into a medical study called The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Blacks With Syphilis. The study selected 412 men infected with the disease and faked long term treatment, while really only giving them placebos and liniments. The premise of the action was to determine if blacks reacted similar to whites to the overall effects of the disease. The experiment was only discontinued 40 years later when a Senate investigation was initiated. At that time, only 127 of the original study group were left alive. The story is told from the point of view of Nurse Eunice Evers, who was well aware of the lack of treatment being offered, but felt her role was to console the involved men, many of whom were her direct friends. In fact the movie's name comes from the fact that a performing dancer and three musicians named their act for her - "Miss Evers' Boys"... Written by John Sacksteder
