There have been up to five ambushes on tankers in the last week since one of the main border routes into Afghanistan was shut by the Pakistani authorities.

The crossing was closed after three Pakistani soldiers were killed in a Nato helicopter strike in Pakistan.

Islamabad has not yet said when the Torkham border post will be re-opened.

No-one died in Monday's bombing in the Khyber tribal region which happened while the tanker was parked alongside more than 100 other trucks waiting to enter Afghanistan.

2. US Imperial Forces are surrounded
This is a bad situation for the imperial forces in Afghanistan, surrounded by hostile populations, as they try to fight the Taliban, which are becoming stronger. I like President Obama, but he is making a serious mistake when he follows these stupid political generals and neocon evil doers, whose aim is to install a US empire. This imperialism disease impacts all Americans, of the left, and of the right. You tend to think these wars are painless, and you used to think you were enormously rich, thusly fighting these wars was cheap. Now maybe you are learning a lesson, and will not use violence so much.

And if you know logistics, you can fight a war on logistics.

6. Private Contractors handle the supply lines in Pakistan and not NATO troops
Taliban and their sympathizers have been attacking and blowing up supplies for NATO troops in Pakistan at will.

"Seventy percent of Western supplies to NATO forces have to pass through lawless ground in the tribal areas of Baluchistan and militant-held areas in the North-West Frontier Province. Supplies are offloaded in the port city of Karachi and trucked to depots in Peshawar, then through the Khyber Pass and on to Kabul.

The Khyber Pass, which has been a supply and trade route since the time of Alexander the Great, is particularly vulnerable. Blowing up a bridge there can shut down convoy traffic for days, as has happened at least seven times since last September. The depots and terminals that store supplies in Peshawar also have been plagued by suspected Taliban sabotage.

But the convoys are not escorted by either U.S. or Pakistani forces. Using American troops is politically untenable in Pakistan, so the United States uses Pakistani security contractors rather than enlisting the Pakistan army for security."

7. The solution is relatively easy
for each truck blown up by Taliban, cut $100 million from Pakistan's military aid. That will force Pakistan and its ISI to rein in the Taliban. Hit the Pakistani generals in the pocketbook and this will stop.

10. U.S. apologizes for death of 2 Pakistani border guards
This sounds like a job for Obviousman.

Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- The deaths of two Pakistani border guards, victims of gunfire from a coalition helicopter last week, could have been averted with better communication, a NATO and Pakistani team determined.

"We believe the Pakistani border guard was simply firing warning shots after hearing the nearby engagement and hearing the helicopters flying nearby," said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Tim Zadalis, the assessment team leader for NATO's International Security Assistance Force.

"This tragic event could have been avoided with better coalition force coordination with the Pakistan military."

The incident spurred Pakistan's closure of the main land route for NATO supplies crossing from Pakistan to Afghanistan -- an area known as the Torkham border.
