NFL Says Feingold is Using Unauthorized Footage in Ad
Source: WUWM Milwaukee Public Radio

Wisconsin U.S. Senator Russ Feingold has come across an unlikely opponent in his campaign: the National Football League. The NFL says the Democrat is using unauthorized NFL footage in one of his ads, which features football players celebrating in the end zone. The NFL wants Feingold to pull the spot.

The campaign ad compares the sometimes excessive end zone celebrations to Feingold's GOP challenger, whom Feingold says has already declared himself the winner in next month's election.

Oshkosh businessman, millionaire and political newcomer Ron Johnson is running against Feingold. Polls show Johnson has a slight lead.

4. when i saw that ad, i remember thinking
that i was impressed that Russ was able to get the NFL to sign off on the use of those clips. I never thought he would use them without permission. That's pretty Bush league. It is a great ad and the point could have been made w/o the use of those clips, and by using another metaphor IMHO. Big fan of Russ by the way.

5. Without the express written consent of the NFL?
Just think how the image of the NFL player in that commercial will damage the soul of this country.

6. Two Words: Fair Use
Taking a 10 second clip out of a three hour broadcast isn't enough for the NFL to sue.
