Oil industry aids effort to suspend CA climate law

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Supporters of a ballot initiative to suspend California's landmark greenhouse gas emissions law are reporting more than $5.2 million in contributions, with nearly all of it coming from the oil industry.

Three out-of-state oil companies contributed a combined $5 million during the three-month period ending Sept. 30.

In all, the campaign raised $8.3 million during the first nine months of the year and has $3.1 million cash on hand.

Opponents of the initiative had not yet filed their disclosure statements. As of Sept. 20, they had raised about $9.7 million.

I'm not sure how this is polling, but I'm against them.

It will be very bad news for California if this damn thing passes.

2. Arnold was 100% right on this one. Big Oil wants to roll back the emissions law on the books.
Does anyone really believe that these companies, out of their black-oil hearts, are really spending millions and millions of dollars to protect jobs? It's not about jobs at all. It's about their ability to pollute and thus protect their profits," Schwarzenegger said in an appearance at the Commonwealth Club in Santa Clara.
