TransCanada Donations Prompt Call For Investigation
Source: KETV - Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Two Nebraska politicians seeking re-election have sent back campaign contributions from TransCanada.

Gov. Dave Heineman and Attorney General Jon Bruning returned $2,500 to the Canadian company, which wants to build an oil pipeline over the Ogallala Aquifer.

The Nebraska Sierra Club has called for a federal investigation into whether TransCanada made contributions to other candidates.

1. I may be wrong,
but doesn't the law now allow foreign corporations to donate? Or is it just that they are allowed to run advocacy ads?

2. The article goes on to say just that, but I'm not a lawyer
I suspect that's why they were so quick to give back the money

5. Good!
Send them packing!

I hate the thought of ANY Canadian company bribing (and that's what it is) a foreign government for favors.

And what's worse is, they have the name of our country in their corporate name. They don't represent us in any shape or form.

8. As far as I know, Canadian firms are free to bribe foreign officials
There's no law against it. I don't think ANY country is prohibited from doing it, as long as it's done offshore.

6. Ouchies! See what the SCOTUS has done? Now anyone---and I mean ANYONE
can give money to the "US" Chambers of Commerce and funnel it to the candidate of their choice. Castro could send money. It would all be perfectlt legit according to the SCOTUS. We would not even take medical aid from Cuba after Katrina, but their money is just as good as any US citizen's in this election.
