Fannie Mae logic bomb creator found guilty.
Source: the tech herald

Rajendrasinh Babubha Makwana, a Fannie Mae contractor indicted earlier this year for creating a logic bomb after being terminated from his job, was found guilty this week by a federal jury in Maryland. The initial indictment raised several issues, including calls to examine the H1B Visa program, but the real problem was policy failure.

During the Makwana indictment, the court said that if the logic bomb had been successful, it would have “caused millions of dollars of damage and reduced if not shutdown operations at for at least one week.”

I guess blowing up fannie mae's computers in the middle of TARP resolution is a 'job americans wont do'

can you imagine what this would have cost the taxpayers?

Failed Times Square Bomber Sentenced To Life In Prison
(Tuesday, October 5th, 2010)
Failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad was sentenced this morning to life behind bars.

Shahzad, 30, a married father of two and naturalized American citizen who lived in Bridgeport, Conn., had pleaded guilty on June 21 in Manhattan federal court to 10 felonies, including international terrorism and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction.

Shahzad put together an improvised car bomb — a 1993 Pathfinder fitted with 250 pounds of ammonium nitrate and diesel fuel, three 25-pound propane tanks and two five-gallon gasoline canisters — that failed to ignite.

also had been on an H-1b visa

this is who we're tossing americans on the curb in favor of

5. Also in the news,
American firefighters watch as a family's home burns down.

American Soldiers killed Afghan Civilians for fun.

Is this who Americans are?

2. meh
I love the H1B program. I'm an academic. We get some of our best students through it.

as for "logic bombs", well they just sound so cool and cyberpunk.

4. you think shutting down fannie mae in the middle of TARP resolution is 'cool'?

says a lot about your respect for the taxpayer

and why would you be getting any students on an H-1b rather than an F1 visa?

doesn't make any sense

8. I don't think "logic bombs" are cool
I said I think they sound "cool and cyberpunk". Like something from a William Gibson novel, before he sucked.

and we get our postdocs through the H-1b program.

10. Can someone explain to me why they call it a "logic" bomb?
I've been taught that "logic" is a benign process of orderly reasoning.
How does it translate to computers? (Remember, I'm a functioning idiot in the computer world. I can just about manage my laptop.)

14. That's not at all what you said.
You related an act of sabotage that could have been (and has been, in other cases) undertaken by anyone in that position who was fired to the fact of their having an H1-B, implying a citizen would not have done the same.

15. a citizen has nowhere to run, an H-1b hops a flight to India and is gone
Edited on Thu Oct-07-10 05:38 PM by independent_voter
sabatoge among US born citizens in IT is extremely rare if not unheard of, because anyone with an IT background knows there's nowhere to hide in the USA once you've done it - sooner or later the FBI will find you

an h1b goes back to India is is never heard of again

from wikipedia on the times square bomber, sentenced just yesterday (also had been an H-1b)

"He was arrested after he had boarded Emirates Flight 202 to Dubai at John F. Kennedy International Airport.<6><5><7><8><9> "

both the fannie mae logic bomb and the times square bombs failed because of incompetant design
