Sen. Bill Nelson blasts Obama Administration for suppressing information on the oil spil

Count Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson among the critics blasting the Obama Administration over a new report that says the White House suppressed information about the possible size of the Deepwater Horizon disaster and let politics run the show.

The staff report by the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling Commission says that when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wanted to release some of the worst-case scenarios for the amount of oil spilling, it was rebuffed by the White House Office of Management and Budget.

“It’s inexcusable,” Nelson said during a visit to the St. Petersburg Times editorial board Thursday.

The staff report, which has yet to be ratified by the full commission, also says the White House lagged in its initial response to the BP oil spill. Nelson said the military should have been put in charge of the response, rather than BP and the Coast Guard trying to take joint responsibility for shutting off the undersea gusher and cleaning up the coast.

9. Nelson seemed to remember that he's a democrat this year.
Bless his heart, but he did come out swinging pretty strong with the onset of the oil spill.

11. Gee, isn't the Spill Commission as well as NOAA a part of the "Obama Administration" also
So let me get this straight. President Obama set up a commission to investigate how the spill was handled. HIS commission identified one part of government that screwed up, now all of a sudden Bill Nelson is all over how "Obama's Administration" is at fault. As someone else pointed out, where are the headlines praising President Obama for not setting up a whitewash commission?

12. Could be he is scoring points with the Space Shuttle voters who were just laid off.
There is a lot of blaming Obama for the layoffs, which we all know were scheduled in the Bush years. If you didn't know Sen. Nelson was an Astronaut. Hmmmmmmmmm......

13. President Obama's fault?
He doesn't even have all his appointments in place yet!

Many of the decisions are being made by the appointed for life Bushies, so let's identify individual problems and put away that big brush Nelson!

21. He's shocked, shocked!
This is the same guy I recall pounding the drum for war with Iraq in June of 2002. He wasn't about the WMD then, it was all about launching a rescue mission to find a missing pilot, Lt. Michael Scott Speicher, and oh yeah, coincidentally, a war would be great for Jacksonville's economy, too. Douche!

I don't have a problem with him being critical. But for crying out loud, do it in mid November, not now.
