San Francisco Chronicle(10-13) 12:55 PDT OAKLAND -- More than three dozen alleged gang members would be barred from associating with each other in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood under a civil injunction that the city intends to seek in court, officials said today.
The injunction would bar 42 people identified by police as members of the Norteños street gang from hanging out with each other, loitering and possessing guns.
"The Norteños have been one of the most destructive, vicious and sociopathic criminal organizations in Oakland, not just for years, but literally for generations," City Attorney John Russo said at a news conference. Residents, including children, have been victimized by a "decades-long firefight" between the gang and its rivals, Russo said.

Hmm, seems similar to sex offender injunctions that ban convicted sex offenders from living near schools. Well, if those identified in the injunction are merely "alleged", shouldn't those members be tried in court first then penalized? Is there a law against being a gang member just like how it's illegal to join terrorist organizations?
