Grayson, Webster congressional race draws national attention
Source: Orlando Sentinel

He's also drawn praise for working with Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul to enact the first independent audit of the Federal Reserve. After languishing for years, the measure gained steam when Grayson grilled the Fed's inspector general and found she was unable to identify the recipients of $1 trillion in bailout money.

Grayson has sponsored the "War is Making You Poor Act" to strip funding from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and use the savings to cut income taxes. He says the federal stimulus didn't go far enough and supports another $50 billion in infrastructure spending. He voted for health care reform and supports a public option that would allow the uninsured to buy coverage through Medicare.

Locally, he has pushed for mandatory mediations before lenders can foreclose on homes.

And Grayson also substantially increased federal earmarks in the district from $2 million to $12 million his first year and $14 million his second year. That includes $4.2 million for Florida Hospital's Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement in Celebration to develop robotic surgical techniques that could be used help injured soldiers in the field, and $250,000 for crisis intervention and counseling for child abuse victims through the Orange County Children's Advocacy Center.

It's federal spending that prompted Webster to run.

2. He's driving Republicans nuts!
Did you see what George Wills wrote about him this week?

He completely lost his sense of perspective he's so upset over Grayson.

Anyone who can reduce Wills to that level of frustration must be doing something right.

Go Grayson. I think he's going to make it!

Truth really does drive them nuts. Unfortunately, they also do a good job of keeping truth from the electorate.

Found it.

Will's been out of here for a LONG time.

4. Pretty bad wasn't it?
I never got what people saw in that guy. I guess he played the game well and managed to not be too extreme in his partisanship. But, Grayson appears to have put him completely over the edge. Lol!

Did you see that Gov. Dean has come out to support Grayson? Just put up an OP with the email he sent. I am so glad he's getting help from Dean.

5. Yes, thanks for posting, sabrina!
Saw it earlier, had to run out, and thankfully you beat me to it!

Wills lost it a long time ago; don't know why/how, exactly. In the past, he did lend somethings useful to discussions.

6. Progressives with guts
We need 434 more just like him. But progressives with guts are the enemy of ignorance. Ignorance is what the powers that be want to spread. So the powers that be are the enemy of progressives with guts... They're throwing everything at him. He can't even get good press from the left. (Jim Philips I'm looking at you)... I worry about him.
