Police seek help identifying Paul supporter who stomped on liberal activist
Source: Bluegrass Politics

A MoveOn.org activist trying to get close to U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul on Monday was shoved to the ground by supporters of Paul and stomped on, according to Lexington police.

Police are seeking the public’s help identifying people involved in the assault on liberal activist Lauren Lizabeth Valle, 23, outside the studios of Kentucky Educational Television before a debate Monday night between Paul and Democrat Jack Conway.

A spokeswoman for MoveOn said Valle went to a hospital on Monday night to be checked and has a concussion. She was not admitted.

...

Anyone with information on the identities of the men is asked to call Lexington police at (859) 258-3600.

I've seen some posts with pictures trying to track down the culprits. If somebody figures it out, here is how to report it.

14. Make it worse ...
Imagine, though if the 2 "New Black Panthers" had stomped a 23-yr-old WHITE girl.

Not that it would increase the rage level of DUers (would it?), but this altered scenario would definitely create massive head explosions among the non-racist teapartiers.

42. Gods I am sick to death of that
I hate that 'both sides do it crap.' There have been some democratic politicians that have given cover to that argument when its trotted out on the Sunday morning circuit that should get seriously disciplined for such nonsense. This argument should have no credibility at all.

Though honestly I am surprised that Rand Paul wasn't more clever than this. I had thought up a way for him to get out of it and even turn this around but I will not mention it for fear of his campaign trying to whip it out at the last minute.

26. As a cop...
I can assure you we can't get away with stomping on someone's head or neck. It just doesn't work that way. Nor would I have had to resort to that to detain her if she provided me with sufficient probable cause.

Pure stupidity. That's what it was. I guess none of those folks ever walked a picket line before and learned how to deal with counter protesters?

24. That was really stupid.
Doesn't anyone tell their volunteers and staffers to avoid that kind of publicity anymore? Were they arresting her? Or was it just a mob scene by a bunch of amateurs who think they're going to suddenly be in political power when their wunder kid gets elected? I got news for them, he'll forget they ever existed as soon as the PAC money starts flowing.

Politics is as coarse as I've ever seen it this year. Nobody has a lick of sense anymore.

Truer words were never spoken.

The only fun part of any Paul victory will be watching these fat oafs crying in their surplus C-rations when Paul toes the corporate line.

38. Why should they?
How often do they suffer from that kind of publicity anymore? No matter how bad it gets, there always seems to be someone with some excuse. "Both sides do it!" and "Those aren't OUR people!" seem to be popular. I imagine the crowd here could come up with a few more.

Maybe we haven't reached the point where NO ONE gets punished for this kind of behavior, but it seems to be rare enough that people of a certain mentality are willing to take the risk, assuming they've even thought about it. When enough are getting away with it, an old saw like "actions have consequences" starts to lose its edge.

Edited on Tue Oct-26-10 04:04 PM by DFW
Just like why Cheneybush attacked Iraq and not Iran or North Korea.

Iraq may have provided more resistance than Rummy expected, but ALL of them knew that Iran and North Korea would have shot back.

That kind of thing scares them whether it's an opposing army or protesters at a debate. If she had been there with
ten well-muscled, armed paramilitary guys as an escort, Rand Paul's thugs would have called her "ma'am" and offered
to bring her coffee.
