US acts against alleged front companies for Iran
Source: AP via Yahoo

WASHINGTON – Putting a new squeeze on Iran, the Obama administration on Wednesday blacklisted 37 shipping companies in Germany, Malta and Cyprus that the U.S. says are linked to Tehran's nuclear program.

The Treasury Department said all are front companies owned or acting for the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, which the department said are used to advance Iran's nuclear and missile programs.

The blacklisting is the latest in a series of actions by the U.N., as well as the U.S. and other countries to punish Iran for its disputed nuclear program. They are also supposed to pressure Tehran into agreeing to taking steps to prove that the program is not used to make bombs.

It's a shame the TV news shows don't report news like this.
We really need a 24 hour news station that reports NEWS.

2. Sanctions are illegal
The US pushed the illegal sanctions against Iran in the UN Security Council. There is no evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. Iran has the most closely monitored nuclear program in the world.

All of the permanent members of the UN Security Council do have nuclear weapons, and all of the permanent members have a much more recent history of military aggression than Iran.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed the non-divergence of declared nuclear materials by Iran. To develop nukes, Iran would have to kick the inspectors out, and then they would be years away from any nuclear weapons. But if there ever was a country that has a good reason to develop nukes, it would be Iran. They are constantly being threatened by US and Israel. Both of these countries do have nukes and both have horrible records of military aggression.

Of course Iran is doing its best to bypass the illegal sanctions. There is nothing sinister there.

5. I wasn't fooled by the Iraq WMD nonsense,
and I won't be fooled by this nonsense either. I have to live in the reality based world.

Just because folks that hate Iran give our politician a lot of money, our politician still don't have a right to pass arbitrary sanctions against Iran. This is imperialism and wrong. Iran doesn't get to vote in our elections, so our politicians in Washington DC have no right to tell the Iranians that they cannot have a nuclear program.

You seem to think that it is OK for our politicians to get involved in Israel's aggressive behavior against the Palestinians and Lebanon, and threaten Iran on Israel's behalf. You vilify the victims, but ignore Israel's far worse behavior and complete responsibility for the conflicts.

Hezbollah had the nerve to end Israel's illegal occupation of southern Lebanon - how terrible of them. Hamas represents the Palestinians who have been expelled by Israel off of most of their homeland and live under severe oppression by Israel. Actually, many of them were expelled before Israel existed at all. If you hate Hamas' and Hezbollah's bad behavior, then you should hate Israel's behavior much more.
