For the third time, Turk tries to unseat Cleaver in 5th Congressional District

If voters in Missouri’s 5th Congressional District don’t know of Jacob Turk, it’s not from his lack of trying.

Unseating incumbent Democrat Emanuel Cleaver II has been Turk’s goal for more than four years.

And as he nears the end of his third campaign for Cleaver’s seat, the Lee’s Summit Republican is riding a wave of support for Republicans and dissatisfaction with Democrats that have made this a more competitive race.

A recent poll commissioned by his campaign found Turk trailing Cleaver by nine percentage points. By contrast, he lost the 2008 election by about 30 points.
