Miami Heat start Dwyane Wade campaigns for Kendrick Meek in Senate race
Source: Miami Herald

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade is giving Democrat Kendrick Meek a boost in his struggling U.S. Senate race campaign.

Wade is scheduled to join Meek at an early voting rally Thursday afternoon at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center.

The basketball all-star also penned a fundraising letter to Meek supporters to garner more dollars for the final days of the campaign. Early voting is already underway. The election is Tuesday.

``Kendrick Meek shares my values -- giving kids a chance for a better future and helping the people who need it the most. That's why I told Kendrick I'd help his campaign however I could,'' Wade writes in his letter posted on Meek's campaign website.

3. When was the last time...
a high profile athlete stuck his neck out on a political issue? My hat is off to Wade for not concerning himself with how his endorsement might effect the sale of his shoe.
