GOP Rep. Bachmann might not support Boehner for Speaker
Source: The Hill

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) suggested Thursday that she might not support John Boehner (R-Ohio) as the next Speaker.

Bachmann, a prominent conservative lawmaker with ties to the grassroots Tea Party movement, said she would only support Boehner as the next Speaker if he were the only candidate available.

"Right now, we don't know exactly who the candidates will be. It may be John Boehner," Bachmann said in a debate on Minnesota Public Radio. "If John Boehner's the only candidate running, I'll be voting for John Boehner.

"I would look at all the candidates and weigh it accordingly," she added.

Some Republicans have been reluctant so far to commit to voting for Boehner as Speaker, should the GOP win back control of the House on Nov. 2. But defections and noncommittal statements have been largely limited to congressional candidates, and not incumbents like Bachmann, who is seeking her third term.

4. It is all about her
And I agree she wants to catapult herself into House leadership to move up as far and fast as she can and does not care who she has to go over to get it.

The GOP Establishment will not like it, but they pushed the astroturf tea party this election cycle so they will have to live with it. It will be a internal GOP Party coup, as the faux populism is taking on a life of its own.

Hopefully the Democratic Party can keep control of the house and this will not matter. Of course Bachmann will probably try to go for Minority Leader in that case.

14. She may run, but she won't win
The majority of the House Republicans will be conservative, but the majority of Republicans aren't as Tea as her. Yet.

3. Hell, she might not even be there to support anyone.
That's my hope, and her worst nightmare. Tuesday's coming.

5. I agree, I would like Clark to win the CD 6 race
though she has been polling 10pts behind lately even though she has all the endorsements of newspapers and Chamber of Commerces in the 6th.

6. That's my hope, too
I must have contributed to Tarryl Clark's campaign three or four times. Long shots sometimes win.

And if she doesn't, I don't regret any of it.

9. This reaction presupposes three things:
a) that Bachmann is re-elected;
b) that Orange-Man is re-elected (sigh, probably a given); and
c) that the Dems do not get a majority in the House.

If the voters of her district have any sense whatsoever, she will not be re-elected. Orange-Man will probably be re-elected, yes. But I still haven't given up on the House - and I will not - until the Fat Lady sings. And I sincerely hope for all our sakes that what the Fat Lady sings is a Nancy Pelosi song.

17. My reference was perhaps not well-chosen.
I meant that I hoped that Nancy would be triumphant!

Thanks for making me look at it again. :hi:
