A Surge in Democratic Spending
Source: New York Times

Groups aligned with Democratic candidates have unleashed a last-minute paroxysm of spending in competitive House races in the final days of the campaign that has them outpacing Republicans, reversing the trend of the past few months, according to an analysis of campaign finance data by The New York Times.

It appears that the groups, including the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, had been conserving their resources for the final week or two of the midterm election season, calculating that a final burst was the only way they could compete with the continuing avalanche of spending by Republican-oriented outside groups. Democratic House candidates have been outspending their Republican opponents head to head on television in the final days, as well.
....

The Democratic edge in the House over the last week has been driven in large measure by huge expenditures from the Democratic campaign committee, which, as of mid-October, had more than twice the amount of money in the bank as the National Republican Congressional Committee. Over the last week, the Democratic campaign committee reported spending $24 million in 68 of the 109 races in play, compared with the $12.5 million across 59 contests by its Republican counterpart.

On top of the party committee’s spending, Democratic-oriented outside groups, led by labor unions and others, outspent Republican-oriented groups in competitive House races, $7.4 million to $6.9 million, according to the Times analysis. Meanwhile, the Democratic House candidates outspent Republicans, $12.3 million to $7.7 million, on television in competitive races over the last week, based on data from Campaign Media Analysis Group

Looks like money that we and others have contributed to the Democratic Party is being spent to effect a last minute surprise in the election. Let's hope they are successful

3. Gawd, I hope it helps. I mute everything. Of course, I voted in September so I'm not the target.

4. I've noticed
Glad my money is being well spent, though I don't like negative adds - whether from a Democrat or Repuke.

5. I just wish they didn't wait until the last weekend. Early voting is occurring in MANY places
so this may be too little too late. UNLESS they are spending it on G.O.T.V. ventures, which are CRUCIAL to our success. Either way, this is a good thing.

6. I personally believe that the timing for these is good.
Most of those of us who voted early knew exactly who we were voting for and why. I believe that many "undecideds" (and these include registered Dems) will cast their votes on Election Day. In my voting residence of MD, early Dem voting has far outpaced that of Repubs. MD Dem voters generally reliably vote Dem.

But I am still keeping my fingers crossed. Very crossed.
