Dirty politics trial opens for ex-Republican strongman DeLay
Source: AFP

Mathews told jurors that DeLay's alleged illegal campaign activities had a larger purpose: An unusual mid-decade redistricting plan that would elect more Republicans to Congress and, by extension, bolster DeLay's leadership role.

"We are going to prove to you that Tom DeLay broke the law," she told the jury.

DeLay's attorney insisted the transactions were legal, and typical.

"You cannot convict Tom DeLay because of his politics," DeGuerin said.

1. I'm with you, it's about time.
If you ever want to come up with an example of a corrupt politician, you need look no further than Hot Tub Tom.

2. I'm hoping this will be good for Texas.
I realize it's in Austin, but it should be a reminder to Republicans about how easily fooled they can be, and to Democrats about how corrupt Texas Republicans are.

Fingers crossed for Texas and its recent demographic changes from Katrina evacuees.

3. Please get to the relocation camps and be sure to register them to vote. Last time I tried the
guards would not let me in.

4. I hope the murder of Gus Boulis comes up in his trial, and he pays for his part in that murder.
Gus was an immigrant who for 20 years was living the American
Dream in Florida.
He built from scratch his own tourist fleet and enjoyed his
life.
Tom Delay and his henchmen threatened Boulis with exile and
the loss of his business
unless he sold it to them. He was frightened and sold his
business. A bank did a transfer
and the money was never delivered. (how did a bank pull that
off? what bank pulled that off?)

Boulis was angry and complained. He was shot and killed at a
red light while driving in his
home town in Florida. This is all from memory. If you google
it, you will learn more.
Abramson and a few other congressmen were involved in the scam
to steal his property and
to have him silenced.

I hope we can resolve this murder and give his family back his
business. Perhaps his fleet
was in the way of all of the preplanned Gulf business, for all
I know.

Mean spirited, evil dude, that Tom Delay. I hope Austin finds
him guilty of all charged.
And justice is done.

5. Nothing will happen to that creep, guaranteed.
It seems the slimier you are these days, the more easily you slip through the fingers of justice.

6. Perhaps.
But Austin is the one city in Texas where a justice for DeLay might be done.

10. People like Chrissy Matthews not only dance, but also sing and sale books with the same
song...winning elections is all that matters--they don't care about policy or what is good for the country. Not the Media, and not Corporate Laissez-Faire politicians of all stripes.

To them, there is nothing illegal about rigging the political system.

Politics is not about fair representation--it is about POWER and the more POWER in the hands of the few, the better in their eyes. It is much easier to have assess to the 'few' and to control the 'few' and they want to schew the rules and the 'news' to ensure these type of results.
