Canton: Protestors to greet Kasich at Civic Center today

Members of labor unions and other community groups are planning to protest outside the Canton Civic Center today (Tuesday), where Gov. John Kasich will address the Chamber of Commerce.


CANTON -- Kasich has been the target of demonstrations across Ohio because of his support of Senate Bill 5, which would effectively strip public employees in Ohio of many of their collective bargaining rights.

The labor-organized protest is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Canton Civic Center. Kasich is the keynote speaker for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce's 97th Annual Dinner.

His office says Kasich will answer questions from the media at 6:45 p.m., just before his scheduled address to the Chamber.
