Scott Fitzgerald claims Democrats, unions issued death threats

President Obama and public employee unions are responsible for death threats against Wisconsin Republicans who voted for Gov. Walker's union-busting law. So says GOP Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.

Startling, but no misprint: In a March 22 fund-raising letter. Fitzgerald makes that specific claim. Right in black and white. In a letter mailed to, presumably, hundreds or thousands of voters.

Directly after referring in the letter to pubilc employee unions and "Obama's political machine," Fitzgerald writes: "They even picketed my home to intimidate and scare my family, They even made death threats against those of us who stood up to their political clout."

I know people associated with "liberal" venues in Madison, who host, support, and/or announce pro-Union / anti-Walker events. Several have told me they receive MANY hate-filled emails and phone calls from right wingnuts, and some have ALSO included death threats.

If this scheme is supposed to solve a budget crisis, why did the Republicans separate out a part of the bill to destroy the right of state employees to be represented by a union in collective bargaining? Weren't there more important things that would have actually saved money in that bill?

It sounds like Walker's Koch snorting scheme is as much about solving a budget crisis as the war against Iraq was about fighting terrorism.

I would think that people on the left would be smart enough, that if they wanted to do harm they would never ever send a threat first, they would just carry out their plan.
