Hacking MPs' phones 'could amount to contempt of parliament' (for Rupert Murdoch's newspapers)
Source: Guardian UK

A powerful committee of MPs said on Thursday that hacking mobile phones belonging to members of the House of Commons could amount to contempt of parliament.

A report on phone hacking published by the select committee on standards and privileges concluded hacking could be in contempt, "if it can be shown to have interfered with the work of the house or to have impeded or obstructed an MP from taking part in such work"

Considering several MP's already have proof that their phones were hacked and that the information showed up in Rupert Murdoch's newspapers....this could be a very good day for people who don't like how Murdoch has twisted the news system in Britain (and here) to support the right wing.

3. Murdoch holds most every other democratic institution in contempt,
they might as well join the party.

Thanks for the thread, Snoutport.

6. I appreciate the MPs' indignation, but what about the bigger picture?
What happens when Murdoch's "journalists" hack the phones of Tom, Dick and Harry?

Are there ramifications? Is there a legal recourse?

7. Yes... a couple of his employees went to jail as part of the cover up...they were
sacrificial lambs basically. But then the bigger picture erupted and it was found out that both sacrificial lambs were given close to million dollar payoffs when they got out of jail. Several lawsuits were paid off with million dollar payouts and then hushed up with gag orders. But now all the info is coming out...about the hacking, the police cover up, the threats against parliament members and their fear of murdoch, and, best of all the "lost" emails and info has suddenly been found.

The original number of possible phones hacked by this ONE employee is 6000...the police covred it up and said it was just a handful. If those 6000 people sue murdoch and each get a million bucks.... you can see the damage. With the contempt of parliament they could be getting even more fines for every time they hacked. it could really hurt the murdoch empire!
