Americans Favor Budget Compromise Over Shutdown, 58%-33% (Dems lean compromise, Reps lean shutdown)
Source: Gallup

PRINCETON, NJ -- With Congress facing a midnight Friday deadline to pass a federal budget before a partial government shutdown occurs, a new Gallup poll finds Americans rooting for a deal. By 58% to 33%, more Americans want government leaders who share their views on the budget to back a compromise and avert a shutdown rather than hold out for a budget they agree with.

These findings are virtually unchanged from February.

1. In this particular case... "compromise" translates....
as how much lube we'll need for the reaming we'll get.

Why is NOBODY talking about revenue enhancement... taxing the rich?

Why is NOBODY talking about cutting the fucking "defense" budget?

6. If the Republicans want several billion more in cuts from the
deficit why the hell doesn't a Democrat have the backbone to say fine we can cut out farm subsidies or some other welfare for the rich? Or how about just raising taxes? I would be perfectly willing to give up my Bush tax cuts if they would actually use the money to reduce the deficit.

5. "Backbone" Won't Make the Republicans Vote Our Way
All they have to do is say "NO" and they win.
If We say "NO", they still win.

7. How about if the Republicans want to reduce the deficit
raise taxes. The reason we are in this mess now was Obama caving into their tax cut extensions. All he did was move that argument to the 2012 election.

4. Shut down the Department of Defense
That's my suggestion.

End both wars, troop total recall, shut down bases all over the world, save $1 trillion ANNUALLY (or so)

Let the countries handle their own DAMN business.

8. Compromise? How can Obama change his skin color? That's the only thing that will satisfy them.

9. Dems haven't played hardball for over 20 years...
time to tell the Repugnants that their bill is DOA. Then hit the congress by closing all house and senate offices for the duration of the temper tantrum.

People won't appreciate not getting checks including the military--and they have guns.

I guess that Gingrich didn't tell his buddies that this didn't work the last time they tried it.
