Hawaii appeals court rejects 'birther' appeal
Source: Associated Press

A Hawaii appeals court has rejected a man's request to "inspect and copy" President Barack Obama's birth certificate, saying the plaintiff failed to state a valid claim to having access to the document.

Chief Judge Craig Nakamura wrote in an opinion issued Thursday that Robert V. Justice didn't show there were "compelling circumstances" requiring the state Department of Health to show him the birth certificate. Two associate justices of the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals concurred, one in a separate opinion.

3. Gawd
this will be going on until Prez O leaves office in 2016. I mean, on and on and on and on. Can someone request to see Boner's original birth certificate or Cantor's and DeMint's, even Trump's, please, they would get the same answer - NO

The original birth certificates are closed for a reason. You can only acquire a ceritified one, but these dumb F just can't believe that a black man is president of the United States.

wow ... you're optimistic ... as I recall, they're still bitching about that 1960 election, where if they managed to do some more voter fraud, Nixon would have been Pres 8 years early ...

4. What is an original birth certificate? Surely they don't mean the thing you get in the hospital.
Mine is torn in two, and lots people don't have theirs for various reasons - fire, etc.

Exactly what is it the guy want to see? What is it that the court or whoever has that is different than a certified birth certificate from your local court house?

7. Some of them do, because they're ignorant.
Those hospital things are souvenirs, not legal documents.

13. Birth Cert vs Cert-of-Birth in HA are different docs
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 02:46 PM by SoulSearcher
The official Birth Certificate is an official Hawaiian document,
while the "Certificate of Live Birth" is controversial. The official
BC has never been shown, and some suspect it was damaged or lost.
(I've been doing some reading on this claim). While the Cert-of-Live-Birth is
useful, there are oddities as HA requires the long-form Birth-Certificate
for certain things - i.e. you cannot claim native Hawaiian status w/o
an official Birth Certificate. So that's what I found as the controversy -
the HA Birth-Certificate ("long-form") versus the Certificate of Live Birth
are two different docs in HA. The Birth-Cert works for everything, the
Cert-of-Live-Birth does not. Not really sure why HA has both (?).

14. The abbreviation for Hawai'i is HI, not HA
And the only "controversy" exists in the over-fevered imaginations of racists who can't get over a black man living in the White House.

Other than that, welcome to DU, "SoulSearcher."

16. So, if I wanted to get my own Official Birth Certificate, where would I go to get it? Does the
hospital have it (not the souvenir document sent home with the new mother)? Is there somewhere a second document for me that shows a birth certificate rather than the certificate of live birth? Is there an actual piece of paper somewhere? The courthouse maybe, has something other than the live birth thingy? I am not being facetious. I really would like to know where me or anybody for that matter would go to get the document - since I assume it really does exist.

17. I tried to get my original, all I could get was a computer printed copy with little data.
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 07:37 PM by freshwest
It had very little on it, just the official seal. They don't want to keep that paperwork anymore. I think HI did give copies of Obama's official certificate to the press for a while, but finally said they were not going to be stuck with the labor, etc. after a while. They've since told them to prove need, I guess.

12. Trump - bah!
That man is an embarrassment. I nearly lost my dinner last night (and a good dinner it was too) listening to parts of his interview with Meredith Veira. He kept whining about how his investigators in Hawaii looking into the President's birth were shocked and dismayed at what they found. Oh STFU Donny!
