Prosecutor: ex-CIA agent had no right to lie to US

EL PASO, Texas — Federal prosecutors argued Thursday that an elderly ex-CIA agent's Cold War service to the U.S. doesn't excuse his lying during immigration hearings about sneaking into the country and masterminding a wave of deadly 1990s bombings in Cuba.

Defense attorneys countered in closing arguments that anti-communist militant Luis Posada Carriles, 83, was entrapped while seeking U.S. citizenship and should be allowed to retire to Miami a hero. They also suggested the Cuban bombings may never actually have happened.

~snip~
Posada sneaked into the U.S. in March 2005 and faces 11 counts of perjury, obstruction and immigration fraud. He's accused of lying during citizenship hearings in El Paso about how he made it into American territory, and of possessing a false Guatemalan passport.

Prosecutors charge he also failed to acknowledge planning bombings at Cuban hotels and an iconic Havana tourist restaurant between April and September 1997 that killed an Italian tourist and wounded about a dozen other people.

As long as you have the right conections, and the right political collour it looks like you can do ecactly what you want in the name of "freedom and liberty". Even kill innocent sivilans who have no part, or interest in government policy.. And this man is known as a rather nasty terrorist, who have blown up airliners, killed sivilians time and times again - and who withouth doubt have been on the payrolls of US government for many years.. (aka Central Intelligence Agencey) If he had not, he would be living in a Cuban prison cell by now... Or in another south american prison cell, where he would be given what he deserve... A living hell

The right wing in US have imposed itself on the US in a way few belived just a couple of decades ago.. Or just A decade ago... If anyone before Jr got into office, after that infamous "ELECTION" in 2000 have told me that the extreme right had imposed itself on US in ways that was not imagine... I would tell him that he was in need of some help for paranoia.. Now Im not that sure anymore... The 8 year with mr Bush really scared me, even tho US was not made into a dictatorship, you was dam close.... If they have had the time to make the presidency a dictatorship, they would have made it posible..

I shudder to think about a McCain/Palin Presidency would have been... Obama have not been what many belived him to be.. But by lord, he IS far better than McCain/Palin would have been... That is stuffs for nightmares

8. You have a sharper understanding of our politics than so many US Americans.
Luis Posada Carriles is part of the Cuban "exile" culture which moved to Miami from Cuba when the Cubans overthrew their violent, filthy, brutal, racist, U.S.-suspported government.

It's that same culture which organized the invasion of Cuba, with the C.I.A., to which the last President's father, George H. W. Bush contributed two of his own boats for the occassion. The elder Bush has been totally involved with these right-wingers from the first, and his son, Jeb appointed the grandson of the bloody, corrupt dictator, Fulgencio Batista's grandson to his Supreme Court of Florida when he was the Governor. Disgusting. Hateful.

This same group has been involved in all of the U.S.'s actions against leftists, against Democrats since the 1960's. They have chased leftists down and murdered them all over the world. They have even been involved of that break-in at the Democratic Headquarters in Washington during the Presidency of Richard Nixon, as part of the group of criminals know as the "Watergate burglars" and have murdered by shooting or bombing diplomats from Cuba and from Chile in the United States, on the streets, in traffic, in broad daylight.

They couldn't have created a dirtier, more violent history for themselves if they tried. Their prey has ALWAYS been leftists, and Democrats.

He's an "anti-communist militant"...

Jurors deliberate fate of Fidel Castro's nemesis
By WILL WEISSERT The Associated Press
Published: 3:34 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011

EL PASO, Texas — Jurors in Texas are finally set to begin their deliberations following the 13-week perjury trial of a Cuban-born anti-communist militant.

Eighty-three-year-old Luis Posada Carriles (loo-EES' poh-SAH'-duh cah-REE'-lehs) is an ex-CIA operative who opposed Fidel Castro and communist governments around Latin America — often with U.S. support.

But he sneaked into the U.S. in 2005 and faces perjury, obstruction and immigration fraud charges.

He's accused of lying during citizenship hearings in El Paso about how he entered the country, and about allegedly masterminding deadly 1997 bombings in Cuba.

9. It's shameful, the evil people this country supports. Every
rotten, rightwing dictator they can find it seems. Then when their people finally have had enough and otherthrow them, their seems to be an influx of their supporters to this country. From the Nazis, to the Batistas, to now must likely, Mubarak and Ben Ali and whatever other dictators fall, supporters.

It's been going on for so long I'm beginning to wonder if this is the reason this country has swung so far to the right. We get all the fleeing, rightwing supporters of these thugs worldwide.

And yes, there is a pattern of the Republican party supporters viciously going after the 'left' which really is in line with these former dictators, since most of them persecuted anyone perceived to be 'left' in their own countries.

They should not be called 'left' and 'right', but 'good' and 'bad'. And there sure are a lot bad ones living here in the U.S.

11. used to be, you wanted to get away with murder, get the venue changed to Amarillo
now it appears that just about anywhere in Texas will suit.

Maybe Ken Lay will keep a place by the fire saved for Posada.

:sigh:

14. Ding, ding, ding
the pathetically blind in this country are too brainwashed to see that truth, unfortunately. Their pride is more important than the truth. Morons... it's why our government gets away with it.
