Brookfield Election Results Verified, County Clerk Won't Resign
Edited on Wed Apr-13-11 07:52 AM by Freddie Stubbs
Source: WTAQ

MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - State election officials say they have verified last Tuesday’s Supreme Court results from Brookfield.

That’s where 14,000 votes were not disclosed on Election Night, giving court challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg only a 204-vote statewide lead. But once a canvass added Brookfield’s numbers, incumbent Justice David Prosser jumped out to about a 7,500 vote lead.

Kloppenburg is waiting for the other county canvasses to be finished Thursday or Friday before deciding on a possible statewide recount.

Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus – who failed to include Brookfield’s totals on Election Night – rejected calls Tuesday to resign. County Democrats said she has ignored pleas to be more open about reporting election results.

There must be some kind of bug in DU's software, as the link will not post correctly Try this:

If you add a hyphen between the word clerk and the last backslash in the URL it will bring up the correct page.

12. Nickolaus is not a Democrat, she is a Republican
Perhaps you need to do some more reading on this story rather than criticizing DUers for posting about it.

16. I'm not sure what article you read, but the election has not been certified
There is still a chance of a recount.

Perhaps you are just projecting, I don't know.

8. Interesting...
"Normally, she only discloses the countywide vote on Election Night, and not the totals for each community as clerks in other counties normally give out."

19. Well, we were here the night of this fiasco.
Still think everything is on the level? They verified the votes...it all looks legitimate.

It stinks to high hell.
